How to Treat Ovarian Cysts Naturally

8/15/2015

cysts
There is a certain conversation that I have had several times lately with both clients and other practitioners about ovarian cysts.  I have met several people who talk about "having to be" on birth control pills because they have ovarian cysts, but wanting to become pregnant.  Many years ago, I was also told that I must be on hormonal birth control in order to treat and prevent ovarian cysts.  Many of us are told that it is the only option, and are pressured or guilted into being on the pill.

The last time I saw a midwife, I was once again forced to defend my decision not to be on birth control.  I was told that it was my decision, but by declining, I was going against medical advice.  She also threw out the word "cancer" to try to scare me into it, when really, while hormonal birth control may help to prevent ovarian cancer, it is not enough to warrant being on it simply for that reason, especially if you are not at high risk in the first place.  Luckily, I know better than to give in to that kind of guilt or pressure, but far too many women don't realize that they have the choice.  What's more, birth control is not the only answer.  What happens when you want to have a baby?  Are you just out of luck?  That doesn't seem right at all.  I have spoken to several women lately who are confused and feel like they have no options.  The truth is that you do have options.  You DO NOT have to be on hormonal birth control pills to deal with ovarian cysts.  Whether you want to have a baby, or just prefer not to be on birth control pills because of the harm they cause to your body (that's a whole other blog post), there are plenty of options out there if you know where to look.  Before we get started, it is important to note that I am not a doctor.  This post is designed to provide some suggestions for natural methods of dealing with ovarian cysts and should not replace medical care.  If you have an emergency, please call your doctor or 911.  Use these suggestions at your own discretion, and ask your doctor if there could be any potential harms for you.

What are Ovarian Cysts?

First of all, lets talk about what ovarian cysts are.  Ovarian cysts are fluid filled sacs that grow in or on a woman's ovaries.  Cysts can present with a number of symptoms including but not limited to pelvic pain, irregular periods, back pain, spotting, pain during intercourse, painful menstrual cramps, gas, and irregular bowel movements.  Some cysts present with several symptoms, while others have none at all.  Most cysts go away on their own after a month or two, while others grow until they burst, which is extremely painful.  There are several kinds of ovarian cysts, and many different causes.  The majority of women who get cysts do so after menstruation has begun and before menopause.

Most doctors, and even many midwives, will tell you that the only ways to treat ovarian cysts are through hormonal birth control pills or surgery.  In most cases, this is not true.  I am not saying that your doctors are lying to you, rather that they may not be informed about "alternative" methods of treating and preventing ovarian cysts.  Many doctors may also tell you that you may never be able to conceive a baby if you have ovarian cysts.  While it is true that certain types of cysts may affect fertility, in most cases they do not.  Women with ovarian cysts have babies all the time.  What's more, a lot of them have more than one child after having ovarian cysts.  If you have cysts, don't jump to the conclusion that you can't have babies.  Some women are told this and think that they can't get pregnant so there is no need to use any form of contraception, and then they get quite a surprise when it turns out not to be true.  Alternatively, if you are trying to have a baby, try not to worry about it and just go for it.  If it winds up taking longer than you think it should, see a fertility specialist to rule out cysts as a cause.
How to Treat Cysts Naturally

Contrary to what you may have been told, birth control and surgery are not the only solutions.  Surgery can cause more scar tissue on your ovaries which can lead to trouble long afterward.  Birth control pills can not only inhibit your ability to have a baby, but may have adverse side effects including but not limited to extra weight gain, mood disorders, headaches, dizziness, nausea, lower sex drive, spotting, chest pain, abdominal pain, and vision problems.  So what can we do instead?  Below are some suggestions for treating and preventing cysts more naturally.  Remember that because there are so many different causes of ovarian cysts, the remedy that works for one person may not work for you.  Try different treatments until you find one that works for you.
Heat
Heat can be a very effective way to reduce the pain from ovarian cysts.  You can try heating pads, hot packs, or hot water bottles.  I prefer hot packs because they produce a moist heat which is better for your tissue.  You can easily make your own hot packs by making a pillow and stuffing it with rice.  If you do not sew, you can pour rice into a tube sock and tie off the end.  If you are going the sock route, make sure that the sock is free of holes, or you will have a huge mess on your hands.  You can also use clean kitty litter, flax seed, or buckwheat instead of the rice if you prefer.  Heat your hot pack in the microwave for about a minute and then apply to your lower abdomen.
*Do not use heat if you are pregnant.
herbal tea
Herbs and Tea
Herbal teas can be a wonderful remedy for ovarian cysts in that they help to calm you and are very comforting, and many herbs found in teas have healing properties.  You can also try taking herbs in the form of dietary supplements.  Some good herbs to try for ovarian cysts include vitex, yarrow, dong quai, maca root, black cohosh, wild yam, milk thistle, red clover, ginger, and dandelion.  You can also try some relaxing blends with chamomile or lavender.  Before using herbal supplements, you may want to check with your doctor or midwife, particularly if you are pregnant.  Not all of these herbs are safe for use while pregnant.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Black Strap Molasses
Many women swear by apple cider vinegar and black strap molasses for shrinking their ovarian cysts.  Try adding 1 tablespoon of each to a glass of warm water.  Mix well and drink once or twice a day until symptoms are gone.  This remedy is believed to help because of it's high potassium content.  If your cysts are due to a potassium deficiency, this can do wonders.

Essential Oils
Essential oils can be used to treat almost anything, including ovarian cysts.  Some oils help to dissolve and get rid of the cysts, while others help to ease the pain related to the cysts, and some of them will even do both.  Some good essential oils to try are clary sage, frankincense, geranium, and cypress.  You can try rubbing these oils directly over your lower abdomen where you are feeling the pain.  If you have sensitive skin, make sure to do a small spot test before rubbing it over your abdomen.  You can try just one, or blend them together.  Make sure to exercise moderation when working with essential oils.  A little goes a long way.  Some sources recommend soaking a tampon in the oils and inserting it overnight.  I am always hesitant with things like this.  Your vagina and cervix are very sensitive areas.  Please exercise caution when inserting anything into your vagina.
*Do not use clary sage oil if you are pregnant, as it can promote uterine contractions.
bath
Baths
Taking a nice warm/hot bath can be a great way to soothe the pain from ovarian cysts.  It can also help to ease the discomfort of some of the other symptoms such as back pain and gas.  For added benefits, try adding epsom salts and essential oils into your bath water.  You can try some of the essential oils listed in the section above.  Epsom salts are helpful because of their high magnesium content, which helps to reduce the pain from the cysts.
*If you are pregnant, make sure the bath water is warm instead of hot.

Balance Your Estrogen and Progesterone
One of the main causes of ovarian cysts is a hormone imbalance.  The main culprits are too much estrogen and too little progesterone.  There are many things that you can do to improve the balance of your estrogen and progesterone. One of these is flax seeds.  Try mixing ground flax seeds in warm water, yogurt, smoothies, salads, or other snacks and beverages to help bring balance to your hormones.  You can also try to limit soy.  Cutting out soy altogether is difficult because it is used as a cheap filler in so many of the foods we eat, but limiting it can help.  You can also avoid drinking out of plastic bottles, use natural detergents, avoid cosmetics and skin care products with parabens and minerals, and try using a progesterone cream.

almonds
Almonds
Like epsom salts, almonds are high in magnesium, and can therefore help to reduce the pain from ovarian cysts.  Try eating almonds as a snack, drinking almond milk, or massaging your low abdomen with sweet almond oil.

Iodine
One cause of ovarian cysts is a hypoactive or under-active thyroid.  If this is the cause of your cysts, you may have an iodine deficiency.  To test whether or not you have an iodine deficiency, you can see a doctor or purchase a bottle of iodine solution or tincture and test yourself.  If you choose to test yourself, put a small circle of iodine on your inner thigh and see how long it takes to absorb.  Allow the patch to dry before putting anything over it, because iodine can stain.  The iodine will make an orange patch on your skin.  When the orange patch is gone, the iodine has absorbed into your body.  If the iodine has completely absorbed in 18-24 hours, you may have an iodine deficiency.  If it is still there after 24 hours, you likely don't have a deficiency.  If you feel you have a deficiency, you can go to a doctor to confirm your findings or begin taking iodine supplements.

Castor Oil
Many people swear by castor oil packs.  I highly recommend checking with your doctor before trying castor oil, as it can cause some very nasty side effects.  There doesn't really seem to be a lot of middle ground.  Everything that I have read about castor oil is either a glowing review of how wonderful it is, or a horror story generally due to its tendency to cause extreme diarrhea.  If you choose to try castor oil, I recommend using it externally in a castor oil pack.  To make a castor oil pack, you will need to start with some good castor oil, a piece of flannel (preferably unbleached and dye free), some old clothes and towels, plastic wrap, and a hot pack or hot water bottle.
  1. Cut a large piece of flannel (about 20x10) and soak, but don't saturate it with castor oil.  You can do this by folding it until it is 2-3 layers thick, and drizzling a couple of tablespoons of castor oil onto it.  Fold it in half to saturate all layers with oil, and then unfold it.  You can also place the flannel in a bowl or jar, and adding about a tablespoon of oil at a time and letting the flannel soak it up.
  2. Once your flannel is soaked with castor oil, wrap it in plastic and then an old towel.
  3. Next, lie down on an old towel.  Castor oil packs are very messy, so feel free to use a few towels if you need to and wear some old clothes.
  4. Place the wrapped, oil soaked flannel over your lower abdomen and place a hot pack on top.
  5. Rest like this for 30-60 minutes.  If you need to, grab a book, or put on some music, or find something else to pass the time.
  6. After the 30-60 minutes is up, remove the hot pack and unwrap the flannel.  You can save the flannel in a mason jar or ziplock bag and reuse it another time.

* Do not use castor oil if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, or on your period.  Some sources say that using it while menstruating is safe but may increase your flow.  Please use with discretion.
Do you get ovarian cysts?  What have you tried that helps?  Feel free to share in the comments!

As a reminder, I am not a doctor, and this advice is not meant to replace medical care.  If you are unhappy with the answers or care that you are getting from your doctor, I recommend seeking a second opinion before committing to any type of medication or procedure that you are not completely comfortable with.  If after using any of these methods, symptoms become worse, please discontinue use and speak to a medical care provider.

I am up at 3:30 am reading about ovarian cysts after being pleasantly suprise by how well essential oils work I was bent over in pain and then remembered that I had some Clary Calm (blend with clary sage in it). About 7 - 10 minutes later I'm laying straight and have no pain! Just want to vouch for one of the alternative methods you are recommending.

Hi Alicia,
I'm so glad that the essential oils worked for you. The clary sage is also really good for painful menstrual cramps and easing labor pains during childbirth. I use it whenever I have cysts and it is so helpful. I'm glad you found my post and that the information was useful. Thanks for reading and leaving your feedback!

Hi Amanda,
Thank you for the article! As mentioned to Alicia, I have had ovarian cysts for five years. I've tried everything but it seems that they come and go. In the last two months I've purchased several essential oils but am confused as to which ones work best for ovarian cysts and period irregularities. I'm looking to purchase clary sage and geranium. I have been using frankincense but haven't seen much of a difference. I actually found the peppermint helps when the inflammation starts. What are your thoughts on geranium and cypress?

Where can I purchase some of this clary sage or clary calm? I also suffer from throbbing pains from the cysts on my ovaries

Hi ladies,

I use geranium for menstrual cramps and it helps, so you can try it for your cysts and see if it helps at all. I have not tried cypress personally. As for where to purchase, I get a lot of my essential oils from Whole Foods or other heath food stores. You can also try Vitacost if you want to order something online. Clary Calm is a doTerra blend, so you would need to find someone who sells doTerra. I have never had trouble finding clary sage at Whole Foods.

Hi Alicia,
Glad to have found your response. I have ovarian cyst as well and really don't know anyone who has them. I've tried many things but they coma and go for the last five years. I have now jumped on essential oils and have seen there benefits with other things. How long have you been using clary sage? This is one of many oils I would like to purchase but am confused with all the different options. Do you think clary sage a decreased your cyst?

Hi Georgia,
I saw your post and can relate to what you are saying about ovarian cysts. I have been using clary sage over the abdomen and frankincense as well. It seems to be helping. The cypress is really good to help blood flow and geranium is good to help calm or decrease the swelling. I love how the essential oils work and have been teaching classes on them for over 4 years. I am happy to answer any questions and to help you find the best quality.

Thank you so much for this article--so many helpful tips here. But, I just saw this post ( "Former Ovarian Cysts sufferer reveals the only holistic system in existence that will show you how to naturally treat your Ovarian Cysts within 2 months” ) and actually was reading about this same topic the other day. I did some searching around and stumbled onto this cool article… I thought it was helpful… https://ovariancystmiraclereviewblog.wordpress.com

I'm laying in bed at 2:48am crying cause I feel like I've got too many or too bad of cysts. Persistent pain when menstruating for years. I'm scared I won't be able to conceive. I've never brought up cysts to a Dr but have the pain and then just suggest BC. Ugh. I hate this. I think I can feel then through my skin. I don't know. I'm scared

Hi Taylor. I'm sorry that you are going through this. The first step would be to bring it up with your doctor. Make sure that what you are experiencing is pain from ovarian cysts before deciding to move forward on your own. There can be many causes of pelvic pain, so it is important to know what it is. I know that it can be hard for many people to bring it up especially if you are scared. If it helps, you can write down how you are feeling on a piece of paper and slip it to the nurse to give to your doctor/midwife when you go in for your appointment. Something along the lines of "I am having pain near my ovaries and may be feeling lumps there. I worry that it may be ovarian cysts, but I'm not sure how to bring it up. Can you please start the conversation with me?" That way the burden of bringing it up doesn't fall completely on you. I know that starting the conversation can be one of the hardest parts. If you are uncomfortable going on birth control, tell your doctor, and if need be, seek a second opinion. If you have an actual diagnosis of ovarian cysts, it may be easier to bring up if you go see a different practitioner. As for being able to conceive, certain kinds of cysts can interfere with fertility and make it very difficult to conceive, however, for many people, ovarian cysts do not prevent pregnancy. Get more information about your condition and it will be easier to go from there.

Taylor, so sorry to hear this. I too had several bad ovarian cyst before I was married and in college. I had to have surgery twice. The 1st one they took all of my right ovary, 2nd time they took 1/4 of my left one. They told me I may have a hard time having children, so when I got married ( 3 months after the 2nd surgery) we didn't wait to try. I got pregnant 8 months later and had 2 more children after that! I had several cyst later and actually have one now. I found taking L- methionine and choline inositol and pro biotic has helped dissolve them.

Hello Amanda and thank you very much for this article. I am glad to have the refresher on Clary Sage and Cypress for this purpose. I have been doing the Apple cider vinegar for something else but not adding blackstrap molasses. I do have some so I have now added that and am resting more peacefully now with my heat bag. Best regards to you.

All age groups are prone to ovarian cysts though they are more common in the fertility period of a woman.

Hi Amber,
Thanks for the response. I can't respond directly to you as the "reply" option is not available. Hopefully you will receive this. I have been using franki sense around the ovary area, plus basil along the accuptessure points for ovaries but have not seen any difference. Maybe I need to use the ones recommended. Have your cysts left or just decreased in size? I have been dealing with these for awhile and it really has been frustrating. What brand of oils are you using?

Amber
3/19/2016 01:27:34 pm

Hi Georgia,
It can be frustrating since you have been experiencing this over a long period of time. I think you are on the right track with the oils and placing them over the reflex points and abdomen. I am a foot zoning practitioner and apply the oil then do the reflex points around the ankle. I am also doing the apple cider vinegar. It seems to decrease the size of the cyst and discomfort. There are also emotions tied to the sacral area of the body that will show up as physical symptoms like not feeling secure, or struggling with relationships with money, self and family. Many times when we get to the real core issue, the physical symptoms disappear. I'd be happy to chat with you more via email if you prefer if you have more questions about emotions and oils. peacewithoils@gmail.com

Hello ladies. I just wanted to remind you that there are many different kinds of ovarian cysts. If you can figure out the cause, it will be easier to figure out how to treat them. For example, if your cysts are caused by an iodine deficiency, they may respond differently than cysts left over from the corpus luteum. Remember, what works for one person, will not likely work for everyone. Learning what others have done is very helpful as a jumping off point, but remember that your body may respond differently. I would recommend trying different techniques and different oils. If something doesn't work, move on to the next. Amber has also brought up a good point about emotions being tied to the area. If nothing else helps, seeing an energy therapist, or even a psychologist may be a good idea to work through emotional blocks.

Hi Amanda,
Thank you for this great article. My doctor just fund a cyst produced for the Clomid that he gave me for ovulation. I am trying to be pregnant and I don't want to take the hormonal pill control. I will take the Apple cedar vinegar and I will change my diet . Do you know if I take vitex it would help me?
Thanks

Hi Alexandra. Thank you for your question. I have actually been working on a blog about Vitex. For many people it works wonders, however, be aware that not everyone has the wonderful experience that you read about on the internet. If you choose to start Vitex on your own, make sure to follow the instructions on the packaging, however I highly recommend speaking to an herbalist, or your doctor or midwife before starting any supplementation.

I've been battling PCOS for many years. I started using essential oils to hopefully regulate/start my periods. I wanna be able to have a child but cant do that without a period or a hormone embalance. What is something I can get to see what oils to get, where to apply and how often. Can I use more than one oil at a time?

Amanda link
6/17/2016 08:51:53 am

Hi Lori. I'm so sorry to hear that you have been struggling. When it comes to regulation and especially hormones, everyone is different. If you are interested in using aromatherapy to this end, it may be a good idea to seek out a certified aromatherapist in your area with whom you can sit down and do a full analysis of your individual case. Unfortunately, I cannot really answer your question except to say that for the most part it is fine to mix oils. As for how much of each, and how to apply, you will need to seek more individualized treatment.

Hi Amanda i get my period every 30day and just once it stayed 45 days. I had a pregnancy test but I was pregnant I was nervous what's going on with me this has never happen so I went to the doctor she told me I had cysts that I needed to use birth control pills I did as she said I used them for 6 months she also gave me antibiotics I used them for a month I went back to see her two months after she told me I jade cysts to check if anything changed but nothing same thing she gave me more antibiotic for 15 days used them and stopped using birth control after the 6 months was up but I started getting very sharp pains like a burn and a stab in both sides my right and left side of my abdomen I don't know what else to do my period went back to normal right after I started taking birth control pills until now but I'm in pain and I'm scared I never get pregnant

Amanda
7/10/2016 11:12:40 am

Amaa,
I'm sorry to hear about your struggles. If you are concerned about whether birth control and antibiotics are the right way to go, try seeking a second opinion. Antibiotics are generally used to treat a bacterial infection, which may account for some of the pain if the doctor has found that one is present. Perhaps try going to see a midwife for care, or someone who has a good track record for being naturally minded. You can also try going to a naprapath or homeopathic doctor, or seeking out an acupuncturist who works with Chinese herbs, especially if you can find practitioners who specialize in fertility. If you are currently trying to get pregnant, it is especially helpful to speak to someone who specializes in fertility, whether a doctor or alternative practitioner. As to your fear about never getting pregnant, a lot of doctors like to tell women that if they have cysts they will never be able to get pregnant, but women have babies every day after having ovarian cysts. That being said, there are some cysts that may cause infertility. To find out more about your own prospects, I would recommend going to a fertility clinic and having some tests done. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon.

I found out I had a complex ovarian cyst last week. Doctor wants to take a "wait and see" approach especially because I am trying to get pregnant. I have been self treating with black strap molasses and acv. I have also cut out soda, gluten, soy, and dairy.

I have never had symptoms of the cyst. However, now I feel like there is blood being sent there. It just feels warms. Not to the touch, but from inside. Could this be the acv/bsm working and diet working?

Hi Ellie. It sounds like your doctor is on top of things and not being too quick to jump to medications. I'm not sure about the heat that you are feeling. If you are concerned about it, talk to your doctor. Does it feel hot in a negative way?

Ellie, it's so interesting that you mentioned feeling hot from the inside, as I've recently been experiencing that, in addition to all the other symptoms that have been going on for some time now. Just diagnosed with a 6cm cyst, though was not told what kind. Doctor wants me to go back in 6wks for another ultrasound. Thankful to have found this site and will definitely be trying some of the suggestions, including the emotional ones. Thank you!

Earlier this year I was diagnosed with a peritoneal inclusion cyct. The way it was explained to me is I have a large amount of scar tissue from having to have my colon removed. The scar tissue is preventing the normal fluid the ovary puts off from being absorbed back into my boday and has caused the cyst to form around the overy. I was told birth control would be my best best but would really like to avoid it. Does anyone have any advise on natural remedies? I'm not sure if the same things will work.

Hi Melissa,

For your situation, since it is scar tissue, I would actually recommend massage. More specifically, look for someone who specializes in abdominal massage, scar tissue therapy, or visceral (organ) therapy. Massage can help to break down scar tissue on the outside of the body as well as on the inside.

Hello Melissa,
I had a lot of scar tissue problems around my csection incision and cysts on my ovaries. The scar tissue from my section was rapping around my ovaries, bladder and bowels. I went to amazon.com and purchased serrapeptase. It gets rid of scare tissue in any areas of the body especially in the high-risk areas. It worked a miracle, the scar tissue is gone. I took it for a month. I still have cysts on my ovaries and have just started taking black strap molasses and apple cider vinegar for the last 2 weeks. Hi Amanda,
Your article is very helpful so far! I just found out I have an ovarian cyst & first time experiencing the symptoms of it in the ER. I am waiting to talk to the specialist about what he thinks & what to do. I am considering home remedies. I am curious about the apple cider vinegar, does it have to be a specific brand or as long as it says acv- it's good?
Also, why is it a bad idea to use castor oil during menstration- is it because it might cause uterine contractions?

8/29/2016 01:46:10 pm

Hi Chelsea,

From what I have read, when it comes to the apple cider vinegar it is best to go with an organic, raw brand. Other than that it should be fine. From what I can tell, the generic brands don't work as well. When it comes to the castor oil, it would seem that for many people, it is safe to use during menstruation, but may increase your flow, so many people recommend against it especially on heavy days, or if you tend to have a heavier flow to begin with.

Thanks for this! I am waiting for castor oil to ship to me to start the packs, and will be trying clary sage oil as well. I had a cyst 2 years ago and it burst and was so very painful, and this one has come on fast and furious! I'd prefer natural methods.

Hi,
I am 21. I got to know that i have got ovarian cyst of 18.3 cm. For that I have been operated on 30th June'16. After 2 months suddenly I slipped down. Went to Dr. & got the report that I am suffering from another cyst of 5 cm, which is of 8 cm now. What to do? Please help. :(
I started having ACV+BSM.

Apart from that my doctor is gave me 2 month course of Krimson 35. This is my 2nd month.

Amanda link
11/2/2016 11:26:08 am

Hi Anam. How long have you been doing the apple cider vinegar and black strap molasses? That can be a good starting point. Aside from the ACV and BSM, you can try any of the other treatments in the post. Most of them are safe, which is why I listed them. Always remember that if you experience any negative side effects or feel worse after trying something, stop. That is a sign that it is not the right treatment for you. If you are ok with being on hormonal birth control, you can keep doing that, however as I said above, if you experience negative side effects, talk to your doctor about them. If you are looking for a second opinion or someone who can provide guidance with herbs or more natural hormonal support, I would recommend seeking out an acupuncturist or someone who does Chinese Medicine, or a naturopath or other holistic physician. I hope you feel better soon.

Anam Rabbani
11/2/2016 11:45:27 am

I have using ACV+BSM from last 2 months. I am getting pimples, sort of depression and weakness after using pills (Krimson 35).Doctor asked me to have those pills in this month. Then will go for Sonography. If there will be no change in the size of cyst then doctor will go for Laparoscopy. Is that good option? And I am not getting one thing, why I got that cyst again?

Amanda link
11/2/2016 12:31:28 pm

Anam, those are very common side effects of hormonal birth control pills. If they are interfering with your day to day life, I would bring that up as a concern with your doctor.

I had laparoscopic surgery with cyst removal when I was a little bit older than you are now, and the scar tissue has caused a lot of trouble and pain for me, and continues to do so almost 10 years later. If they are just recommending the surgery for the cysts, I would urge you to seek a second opinion. I generally say ALWAYS get a second opinion before ANY elective surgery. Surgery is a bigger deal than a lot of doctors would have us believe. I would absolutely recommend seeking out a doctor who is more natural minded if these things are concerning you.

There could be many reasons why you are getting the cysts more than once. There are many causes of ovarian cysts which range from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) to dietary deficiencies. As a next course of action, you may consider trying to find the cause or source of the cysts. I would try hormone testing and maybe looking at diet with a nutritionist who has worked with hormonal concerns. Often finding the cause will allow you to correct the problem.

Jemilia
2/2/2017 07:27:56 pm

If you had surgery you probably have scar tissue issues. If you do take serrapeptase for a month, keep taking acd 2 table spoons and bsm1 table spoon 3 times a day. Drink lots of water and use extra lotion for skin drying . Vitex is some things to consider instead of birth control. It worked better than birth control for me. 3 times a day.

Is there any personal way to contact you where I can send you my reports?

Amanda link
11/2/2016 02:01:28 pm

Anam, if you are talking about your medical records, I would not be the right person to send them to. I recommend finding a doctor in your area who can help you out and give you a second opinion. As I said above, if you are looking for someone who can help you in more natural ways look for someone who does Chinese Medicine or herbs, or a napropath, naturopath, or other holistic physician. As a massage therapist I cannot diagnose, prescribe, or run any tests or panels, so unless you were wanting to come see me for massage or soft tissue manipulation (which may be helpful in reducing pain), providing your records to me would not do much good.

Glad i found this article. I am 20 yrs old, i was experiencing painful abdomen, bloating, fatigue, no appetite to eat, and numbness and pain on my legs and lower back. I saw my dr and had an ultrasound, they found a 2cm complex septated cyst on my left ovary. However, when i got my period, i didn't experience much pain as i did before the period. It actually felt better when i was on my period, but now that im no longer on my cycle, the pain is back. My groins hurt, legs and lower back as well as my stomach from bloating. I feel tired and sleepy all the time and shortness of breath. Right now, i am taking birth control which i just started today and pain relievers. The doctor said to get an unltrasound again in 4 weeks time to check up on the cyst. The question is how long will i be in this situation, i cannot move at all, cant go to school or work. It is affecting my daily routine and is making me depressed. My groins are inflamed and i feel gassy all the time. Please, any advice can help! Im drinking peppermint and chamomile tea, has been taking hot baths and putting hot water on my pelvic. Nothing seems to take the pain :(

I'm 22. My period stopped from June to October 2016 and i feel so tired all the time and also abdominal fullness which pushed me to visit an OB and had my ultrasound. It came out that I have poly cystic ovaries and a 6 cm complex ovarian cyst on my right ovary. I was terrified. My doctor told me to undergo immediate surgery for the cyst suggests malignancy. I went to the out-patient department to apply for a low cost surgery since we do not have enough money for it. I asked God to give me a sign if I really have to undergo surgery. If my application will be rejected it means He doesn't want me to undergo surgery( I don't mean to brag about it tho') which happened that after a week the hospital told me that my application was rejected. One of my friend advised me to go to a herbalist to rely on herbal medicine ( I don't know what herbs are those) but after i start taking it, I can feel that my strength is coming back. I also watch of my diet. I abstain from coffee, soy food, meat, dairy products and eat only fruits and vegetables. I also take ginger tea and turmeric tea and I am also using castor oil packs almost every night. On the first week of November I had a brown discharge which lasted for 4 days. After 21 days my normal period get back. I will try ACV and iodine supplements. I'm planning to have an ultrasound by next week to see if there are changes. To all the women out there who have cyst like me, never lost hope and have faith in God no matter how tired and painful you are experiencing. It's about time we should make changes in our body to avoid more serious illness. Thank you to this page. God bless everyone!!

Hello, ladies. I am a 27 year old woman with no kids. I recently started experiencing prolonged periods and lower abdominal pain. I went to my doctor, who told me that i have cysts in BOTH of my ovaries, along with thickening on my endometrium. Any chance that i can conceive with the right treatment?

Amanda
2/1/2017 09:41:35 am

Hi Emma. I think that it would be impossible to tell you whether you will or will not be able to conceive. Some types of cysts can lessen the likelihood of conception, however women with a history of ovarian cysts conceive all the time. If you are trying to get pregnant and finding it difficult, you can consult a fertility specialist who can likely give you more information about your specific condition. There are also alternative practitioners who may be able to help. Check out massage therapists, acupuncturists, herbalists, naturopaths, or other practitioners who specialize in fertility work. Good luck!

I have been told I have a cyst on left ovary and thickening of the lining .
IV had lots of pain ,heavy bleeds and clots .
I had anemia and low blood ,that's gone now after taking iron .
I have started to take apple cider and black strap mollases twice a day also red clover complex which I was in before .
Since taking the ACV I cannot feel a blood build up like I had although I still have pain it's not like before . I was in so much pain sweat poured from me and I was dizzy a lot .
I have to go for biopsy of the womb lining so I'm very worried .
I have a fear of hospital and doctor .
Sometimes it makes you feel so depressed and alone .
It's a little comforting reading all these comments I know it's not just me and it does seem a common problem .

Hi Amanda

Thanks for all this information. I have issues with my period and trying to get pregnant for a long time. I went to get a ultrasound and the doctor said that I have abnormal cysts, they said I was okay I do not need a surgery, no worries, but I try many times to explain all the symptoms that I have is not normal at all. Something is going on in my body, I feel tired most of the time, I have a lot of headaches, when I have my period last almost 2 months, bloated and the symptoms that you already describe in the article. Sometimes I give up on diets, also don't want to go to see the Doctor because I feel like they don't take it serious in cases like this. They just prescribe pills like Metformin or Birth control. Is been hard for me trying to get pregnant I have my son he is 8 yrs old and is heartbreaking for me not to be able to give him the joy to have a brother or sister. This morning I went to the grocery store I saw the wholesome organic molasses, since I read your article I want to try it with the apple cider vinegar. I will try my best to do it everyday I'm nit sure for how long I need to take it but this gives me hope. Amanda thank you for all this information again. You are totally right. Hope works not only for me but for every woman. Bless you

Hi, can I put on the castor oil directly on my abdomen? What if I dont have a heating pad?

Amanda
3/25/2017 01:00:30 am

I wouldn't recommend putting it directly on your belly. That could get quite messy. If you do not have a heating pad, try a homemade hot pack. Make a pillow and fill it with rice, or if you are not a sewer, fill a sock or t-shirt with rice. If using the t-shirt, tie off the bottom and sleeves first. Once filled (not stuffed, you should be able to squish the rice around), tie off the remaining opening. Make sure that all holes are closed tightly, or you will have a mess on your hands. Put your rice pack in the microwave for 45 seconds to a minute. Or you can purchase a heating pad. They are relatively inexpensive and can be found in any pharmacy.

I don't get any pain from my cyst, and the only pain I had was back in 2011, and any to the ER where they did emergency surgery to take out the largest cyst the doctor claimed to have seen in his life......However, when I woke up from surgery they took the cyst and one ovary. Which made me feel some sort of way. However, now I when I get cramps sometimes they are without pain and other times they are full of pain for only a day. But my doctor wants to do surgery on the cyst that's left behind, and I don't want to because I only have one ovary left. So with the castor oil will this reduce the cyst? Is there any thing else that might reduce the cyst as well? Because everything comes back normal with ultrasounds, blood work, and biopsies.

Amanda
3/25/2017 12:54:11 am

Hi Shayal. I cannot make any promises that castor oil will shrink your cyst. Everyone responds differently. It is worth a shot just like all of the other suggestions, and as always, if anything makes you feel worse, discontinue use.

Hi i have had ovarian cysts on and off for few yrs, i found a product that will dissolve them it is called "UO Clear" you can purchase it at your local Health food store or on Amazon. It will set u back $45 or $50. It has always worked for me. Some times it may take more than 1 bottle to get rid of them, but it is alot better than having surgery to remove them. Hope this can help someone who needs it.

hi there , i got cyst and they found it 2 years ago when on CT scan for my cancer which i had 4 years ago , just to check up (peritoneal stage 3C) and this time it seemed to get a bit bigger and is 6/7cm but no pain @ all , and they want to either check via key hole or remove it but i told them that i needed time and wait for another 3 month , so i can do "caster oil" and when i asked doc.he said there is NO alternative to get ride of it ...doesn`t exist . I said fare enough but i want to see what it does after another 3 monts and do the Ultrasound first & if there is no change i will go for Key hole surgery . As Doc.said there is no cancer in ovary & not in cyst but can be on outside if its looks lumpy & bumpy we better remove and as it not small it could burst (as i asked about it) then need to do propper op.to remove it and not necassery the ovary it self . so, hre you go , im on castor oil about a month now and will have (vaginal) Ultarsound in 1st 2 weeks in august and will let you know what is happening . They also said it lays very much @ the back and when i lay down it`s go back even more and all the rest is on top of it (internal org) bowels etc. so,il be back soon !

I'm just wondering (as I am lying down with castor oil pack on) if anyone is able to verify that the castor oil did in fact decrease their cysts in size or altogether? I've just heard that I have 2 complex cysts adjacent to each other with septations and suspected blood flow. Having my mother died from ovarian cancer I am very scared this could be what I am facing and my doctor has booked an MRI but that could take months. I am 47 and premenopausal and having had my beautiful daughter at 43, she's now 5, and the thought I could have malignant cysts is so debilitating for me...the waiting is so very difficult.

Firstly, let me just reiterate that I am not a doctor. Secondly, no, this is not what should happen. Cysts do not and cannot move like that. What you have is not a cyst. Call your doctor or go to an urgent care or ER.

Hi i ave ovarian cyst about 2yrs now an my foc recommend i try woman pack just curious if anyone have any idea about it?

STK

I don't have cysts, i have fibroids that cause me extreme pain & unbelievable bleeding. My hemoglobin levels dropped so low my doctor was monitoring me for the very likely possibility of a heart attack. She also recommended I go for a blood transfusion, take hormones etc. I decided to take the herbal route instead as there are far less dangers involved. I also didn't want the poor options offered to me by doctors to compound my health problems any further.

My solution may sound excessive, but my situation was extreme & had continued over 4+ years, severely affecting my overall health. I was desperate to get this under control.

After several weeks of research, I started by making my own super-strength frankincense infusion over several hours into high quality olive oil using frankincense tears & added hexane free castor oil, wild yarrow infusion, chaste berry infusion, raspberry leaf infusion, plus rose geranium, clary sage, turmeric, cypress, frankincense & black pepper essential oils.

At least 3 times a week, I use this as an abdominal massage oil after warming my abdomen with a hot water bottle for 30 minutes. After applying the massage oil & waiting 30 minutes for everything to cool down, I apply heat again. I finish off with another application of the frankincense mixture infusion after this & go to sleep.

I also do castor oil packs several times a month when not bleeding, never during my period as I don't want to increase bleeding.

Iodine painting plus heat treatment on my abdomen twice week as well, followed by the frankincense oil mixture afterwards.

And every morning, I drink organic, un-sulphured, blackstrap molasses mixed with hibiscus, honey & hot water, and again in the evening. Daily.

Lastly, I did a lot of research on supplements & am taking several based on my own particular symptoms including serapeptase & magnesium citrate, plus a magnesium complex.

I'm not sure which part of this routine has significantly reduced my bleeding & reduced the number of times per month I experience severe pain but nonetheless, it has helped immensely. My last ultrasound showed no further growth of the fibroids nor an increase in the number of them, so I'm hoping that several more months down the road the 3 fibroids will be shrunken in size.

Good luck to all out there suffering with cysts / fibroids. They can be a horrible, stubborn, debilitating little buggers to deal with & can lead to serious health complications, including the possibility of death, even though they may not be malignant. I had no idea before suffering with them myself.

With Chinese medicine, healthy diet, ACV, Maca root, and all those “ovary-shrinking” foods such as turmeric, ginger etc. For two I’ve had mild pain once in a while that always goes away, only the last pain attack was so bad I ended up in the ER. Any suggestions? 😭

Jacinta Robin. Thanks for the reply. I ingested the medication. I took it for 21 days. After that everything was fine with me. I don’t have the cyst anymore. You can reach the herbal doctor via email or Facebook page.

Hi Amanda,
I was told about a month ago that I had a cysts on both my ovaries, 3.1cm on my left one and a 3.5cm chocolate cyst on my right one. I have been advised by my doctor to have a laprascopy but I'm not comfortable with that. Second doctors opinion was to start on visanne which I haven't as yet as I am currently going through therapeutic healing. My periods are irregular since December last year and I am supposed to be on my period now but sign. I feel some pain near my belly button like some pull, also pain on my sides. What oils can I use?

Hi there. I know that this is an older post but I had to add my experiences for anyone that may be looking for more info. Ive been through a multitude of doctors since I was 16 for PCOS, and been on every kind of pill, patch or ring with no success. A few years ago I went for a scan that revealed I had a large cyst on one of my ovaries that was just continuing to grow in size. I had multiple opinions from various doctors that all told me it was either taking the pill and seeing if it helps (which wasnt an option for me) or going for surgery, and other than that there was nothing they could do. However surgery was risky and one gynae even said she couldnt guarantee it would help but maybe she would have a better idea if she opened me up. So naturally, I wasnt going to jump into that until it was a last resort. I then turned to aromatherapy and within 2 months that cyst as well as all the other smaller ones had disappeared without a trace. My gynae was absolutely shocked and couldnt believe that it was only due to essential oils. I have stuck with it since. For removing them I did a blend of Tea Tree and Frankincense in a carrier oil and applied the mixture to my lower abdomen and lower back a couple times a day until they were gone. Since then, I make a general emmenagogue blend of Clary Sage, Jasmine, Thyme, Myrrh and Angelica. These keep my periods and symptoms more regular and within normal range. Each of these oils work on a different aspect from oestrogen balancing to progesterone balancing to pain relief and general wellbeing. The jasmine even helps me get a good nights sleep which is so difficult with a bad case of PMS! My mother is a qualified aromatherapist so she has taught me so much about aromatherapy and I now use it for almost everything and I hope that this information may help others too
